WORKSHOP ON ANNUAL ACTIVITY PLANNING COOPERATION AMONG ISLAMIC RELIEF AND MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS PDF Print E-mail

Islamic Relief Indonesia and Ministry of Home Affairs and 10 local government representatives have conducted a workshop on annual planning for year 2010 at Hotel Jayakarta Puncak Bogor, 11-12 March 2010.  The aim of this workshop is to formalize the annual activity planning for year 2010.

The agenda of workshop includes opening speech by Islamic Relief and Ministry of Home Affairs Representatives, presentation and discussion on policy of managing cooperation for international NGO by Ministry of Home Affairs, presentation and discussion on program achievement 2009 and programme planning 2010 by Islamic Relief, and working group between Islamic Relief and local government on formalization of 2010 annual activity planning.

In the workshop, Islamic Relief has reported 2009 year programme achievement consisting of:

  • Water and sanitation programme in Serang, Lebak, Lombok Barat, Pandeglang, Padang Pariaman, Aceh Besar, and Sukabumi District
  • Livelihood programme in Aceh Jaya District
  • Shelter programme in Aceh Besar and Aceh Jaya District
  • Disaster Response programme in Padang Pariaman and Sukabumi District
  • Disaster Risk Reducation programme in Aceh Besar and Aceh Jaya District
  • Child Welfare through Orphan Support programme in Aceh Besar, Aceh Jaya, Aceh Barat, Nagan Raya, and Banda Aceh District
  • And Seasonal programme through Food Packet Distribution and Qurbani project in Sukabumi, Serang, Pandeglang, Padang Pariaman, and Aceh Jaya District

 

It is also reported that during 2009 Islamic Relief has built 53 new drilled wells, constructed 18 women community centers, 2 puskesmas, and 11 incinerators.  Besides, Islamic Relief has provided 3,200 earthquake-affected communities with sufficient basic needs during emergency phase for 3 months in Padang Pariaman District such as food, water, shelter, and non-food items. In term of capacity building, Islamic Relief has been supporting 400 poor upland farmers in Aceh Jaya District with trainings on improved agricultural cultivation and supporting some start up capitals and tools.  In disaster risk reduction, Islamic Relief has trained communities in conducting risk mapping, handling injured victims through first aid trainings, conducting mock drill at school and community level, and providing the trained community-based organizations (CBOs) with contingency stock and equipment.   Some other reported achievements include supporting 582 orphans’ education and health with 33 EUR per month, delivering 3,262 food packets during Ramadhan months and 30 cows during Ied Adha days.  Funding spent during year 2009 reached 1.5 million USD benefiting 14,100 households.

 

The workshop has been ended with the agreement between Islamic Relief and District Government to carry put 2010 activity programme as follows:

·        Malnutrition Handling programme prog in Pandeglang and Serang District

·        Water and Sanitation programme in Padang Pariaman and Sukabumi District

·        Livelihood Improvement programme in Aceh Jaya, Simeuleu and Singkil District

·        Shelter programme in Padang Pariaman District

·        Disaster Risk Reduction in Padang Pariaman District

·        Child Welfare programme in Aceh Jaya, Banda Aceh, Aceh Barat, Nagan Raya, and Aceh Besar District

·        Ramadhan Food Packet and Qurbani programme in 3 or 4 districts.

 

For the future programming, Islamic Relief and District Government have made agreement to develop programme jointly from need assessment to proposal development to IRW.
