In addition to emergency relief our programmes cover sustainable development, emergency relief and Orphan Support. Our focus areaa are: Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Egypt, Kosova, Indonesia, Iraq, Mali, Pakistan, Palestine, Sudan and Chechnya.

Islamic Relief has consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (special category), signatories to the code of Conduct for the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGO's Disaster Relief, and members of British Overseas NGOs for Development (BOND).

Community Mobilizer Officer (person identified)

Contract Duration          : till 31 December 2011 (Extendable)

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General :

· Conduct inspection/monitoring on all contruction phase for KJA, Rumpon, Bagan Apung, Water Tower together with other stakeholders (AOC, BAPPEDA/DKP and community representative).

· Provide inspection and monitoring report and report it to IRI engineer.

· Provide physical progress calculation report to verify contractor progress report and it’s invoice for installment payment.

· Play a role a community mobilizer as requested by partner.

· To mobilize the community

· Conducts need assessment for water, sanitation and hygiene.

· Liaise with the community leader and other community organization in targeted are

· Conduction Meeting and Focus group with targeted beneficiaries.

· Assist in community outreach activities and recruit vulnerable youth for enrollment in program.

· Support and mobilize all targeted beneficiaries including youth and health cadres through meeting and other correspondences.

· Implement the training on hygiene practice in targeted beneficiaries.

· Other duties as required

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Understanding of public health issues faced by the targeted communities.
• Reasonable understanding of health and hygiene issues related to water and sanitation.
• Public health, social science
• Willing to undergo training and carry out activities as defined with managers.
• Sympathize and willing to assist target communities.
• Be flexible in work directives from managers
• Ability to establish good relations with community members and act as representative of the organization.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with most community members and speak the local language. Ability to speak English.
• Must maintain a high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
